P&D SAFETY & TRAINING MANAGER

Slicker Trucking is growing and we couldn’t be more excited about the growth of our team.  We are committed and focused on safety & performance.  To better manage and improve the safety & quality of our practices within our P&D division we are seeking a full time P&D Safety & Training Manager.  This individual will be an ambassador of the Slicker Trucking team and serve as a Safety Liaison between FedEx P&D Management and Slicker Trucking. 

P&D SAFETY & TRAINING MANAGER OUTLINE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ year with Slicker Trucking  

  • No accidents or incidents in 12 months

  • No chargeable claims in 12 months

  • Willingness to work 6 days when required (standard schedule will be 5 days)

  • Computer saavy, must be able to navigate Lytx Safety Program & Complete Reports/Tracking in Excel

BASIC TASKS & DUTIES

  • Manage training program

  • Assist in creating & managing safety program for Slicker Trucking, Inc.

  • Provide material for Safety Meetings & Website updates

  • Assist with Safety Meeting (Report findings & trends)

  • Assist with route / package delivery when needed

NEW DRIVER TRAINING

  • Process New Employees (already approved & hired)

  • Hand out new paperwork (go over questions – specifically safety disqualifications)

  • Badge Process

  • Familiarize with terminal, VRP and Cage locations / processes

  • Perform Road Tests

  • Train on Scanner & Delivery Procedures

  • Train on Driving Procedures

  • Observe full route performance

  • Sign off on New Driver Process

SAFETY & PERFORMANCE INVESTIGATION

Will serve as main contact for FedEx Management regarding investigation of alleged claims, disputes, mis-deliveries, incidents, property damage or accidents.

Will respond with Slicker Trucking’s best interest first and foremost “innocent until proven guilty”, respect to terminal management and thorough resolution in a timely manner.

Use of Lytx Fleet Tracking and Video Services, along with on-site visits and employee discussions to help support findings and provide complete detail to FedEx management.

Will provide additional information to Slicker Management if disagree with FedEx decision or charge against Slicker Trucking.  This additional detail will be submitted to contractor relations by Slicker Management for additional review.

On-site first responder (when possible) to scene of property damage, yard incidents to manage scene & begin investigation.

 

DRIVECAM COACHING

  • Learn how to maximize Lytx DriveCam software.

  • Use DriveCam to monitor events identify metrics, benchmarks and insights for individual drivers and team

  • Use DriveCam coaching program to work with Drivers to better understand driving habits and identify possible improvements.

  • Provide DriveCam reports and metrics to Slicker Management.

  • Provide DriveCam Coaching resolutions to driver and slicker management for employee file.

  • Provide acknowledgement program for safe driving

SAFETY & PERFORMANCE FOLLOW-UP & REMEDIATION

  • Identify or communicate any identified or reported safety & performance issues with employees or vehicles.

  • Communicate to driver any safety & performance issues found in investigation & provide corrective action, recommendations or policy reminders of how to correct or avoid in the future.

  • Secondary actions will be discussed with Slicker Management to determine course of Action.

  • Implement & Monitor Performance Improvement Plans when applicable. 

REMEDIATION & RE-TRAINING

  • Work with Slicker Management to Create & Evolve remediation / re-training plans

  • Perform Route Audits

  • Perform Ride-Along’s

  • Perform Re-training

  • Look into Formal Internal Certification / Completion Program

COMPENSATION

  • Salary will be discussed with qualified candidates.

**WHEN COVERING ROUTE DRIVER DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Perform pre & post trip inspection of vehicle (Non CDL position)

  • Operate commercial vehicle in compliance with local, state, and federal laws

  • Load and unload packages by hand.

  • Work in all weather conditions.

  • Make certain package quality is maintained until it reaches customer.

  • Follow all company policies with regards to package delivery and recordkeeping through use of custom scanner/software at warehouse site and with hand held devices.

  • Communicate/report problems or issues to guarantee customer satisfaction

  • Package control: Must report any goods that are lost, stolen or damaged while in transit.

  • Follow preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advise management of any unsafe conditions

  • Adhere to all terms of the company Vehicle & FedEx Contractor Safety Policies

  • Exceptional Timeliness and attendance are critical
